MAC WOBBLEVISION - £45

We have few of these available made from mac classic, classic II or SE's, they all have the same CRT so it doesn't make any difference which model you get. All of them are in varying states of yellow-ness (but not as yellow as the pictures, thats the camera overcompensating for the bright display!) as they have been in storage for some time and some have school security markings on them. We have cleaned them up as much as possible and are only selling ones in good condition but condition will vary slightly.

The wobblevision is one of the more bizarre machines we produce at circuitbenders.co.uk . Essentially a wobblevision is a CRT display modified so that the electron beam that normally produces the image on the screen is now controlled by an audio input to create a kind of cathode ray audio waveform display. Imagine the sound to light displays on software like iTunes or Windows Media Player, only fast enough actually be in realtime and about a million times cooler ,and you've got a wobblevision.

The wobblevision display is created by taking cables from the speaker outputs of any hi-fi amp and plugging them into the sprung speaker terminals we have installed in the top of the Mac. For preference you would have an amp specifically dedicated to the wobblevision but it also works fine from a second speaker outputs on any amp. The speaker cables can be plugged into the terminals on the Mac in any order and you will get slightly different patterns depending on which way round you connect them. Then just play some music and the electron beam will 'draw' the music on the screen. Wobblevisions are especially keen on low dub bass, hard dance kickdrums and anything that gives a nice clean analogue waveform

To see a demo of the kind of effects this device produces click on the demo button below to see a video of this machine dancing to a bit of The Crystal Method. You will need the DivX codec to view it and if you have a Mac you may need to save it to your hard drive and then watch it as it doesn't seem to stream that well on Macs. If you have trouble viewing the video get in touch and i'll try to sort out another version for you. We've had to turn down the contrast on the camera a bit for the video as otherwise the beam is so bright it causes all kinds of lens flare artifacts.
