Hey I was simply checking for some bend points, found a lot, but then I switched to a different part which apparantly erases all song and pattern presets.
Now, the error given is: Illegal PTN when it starts up.
The manual told me to reset them using the 2.1.2 operation.
I have no idea what this operation is whatsoever.
Anyone who knows how to reset the machine back to the factory presets?
Or did I frie the sequencer somehow?
The samples them self still work.
Thanks in advance.

Ahhh, the old RX massive crash. I've seen this on other RX's but never on an RX17. What i've had to do on other RX machines is take the internal battery out and do a factory reset. You might get away with just a reset though.

2.1.2 refers to a part of the manual where it probably tells you how to do it. Off the top of my head it'll be something like turning it on with the Accent button held down, or sometimes the play & YES buttons. It'll be something like that anyway. If you've got the right button it'll probably ask you if you want to load the factory defaults or similar.

Alright, thank you.
The internal battery being the little metal flat round battery I think?
Ill try it out tommorow, I'll post some pictures when it's done.

It'll probably be a flat disk CR2032 battery welded to a pin on either side which are soldered to the board. You may not have to remove it before you do the reset, but i had at least two different RX's that would only do the reset without the battery installed after massive crashes that filled the pattern memory with random crap.

Ok, I googled the battery term and it is indeed the battery I thought it was, it seems to be fixed, thanks a lot.

I had the exact same issue with my Rx17 but cured it with the simple factory reset procedure without the need for fiddling with the battery. As Paul correctly remembered you just turn the unit on whilst holding down the accent button and then hit "yes" when prompted. This will wipe all user patterns though.
