Simple Sequencer Schematic

Can anyone point me in the direction of a nice sequencer schematic? I've never made one, so if there's one that's a good beginners one, that would be awesome.

About the simplest *analogue* sequencer you could make would be a clock generator, a counter, and a 1-of-n multiplexer switching between some pots to set the level.  Another approach would be to use the PWM outputs of a microcontroller to generate several analogue voltages (with appropriate filtering to stop the PWM frequency breaking through) and doing the controls in software.

Here's some simple 555 trigger and 4017 sequencer info for you. I can't remember where i found them so can't credit the makers but this should serve as the bare bones of a simple 2 to 10 step sequencer. I've never tried using one to trigger notes on anything, just for drum machine triggering.





i ignore the 555 part of the sequencer proto board as i prefer to build them seperately in the event of a cock up in there along the way.

music from outer space has loads of DIY projects there are a couple sequencer schematics as well as some other very interesting stuff. IF you have not been there i recomend this site there is a wealth of information
