latching keys

Does anyone have any ideas of how to make a key strike hold until the next is played.  I have this facility on a shonky old bontempi keyboard and I'd quite like to add this facility to my VL-1 and sk5.
Any thoughts?

not sure, as i am not familiar with that model. but, if it is a mono-synth, it might have a sharp cutoff to the notes.
