Savaging / salvaging

what are some useful items (or circuits) to look for when salvaging older electronics?
(outside of common components)
also, what are some good household items to look into?

I have found that some alarm clocks have photosensitive resistors mounted behind false speakers (I have no idea why)

I'm on the hunt for a 82nf capacitor, any idea where I could find one?

I salvage everything! Even bits of wire 2" long! It's all useful at some point.
You tend to find very similar values of caps in certain similar devices (like CD players).

What have you got that's close to 82nF? Probably 0.1μF would do the job just fine.

I'm pretty sure I have a .1uf cap, I just wasn't sure.
it's going into an atari bass console (just a lower-frequency apc)

I have just boxes full of wires
I have been saving up components for a while now without much idea of how to use them.
I also came across a 4558dx opamp chip that I want to find something to apply to.
(it came out of an old graphic equalizer)
