Normally i wouldn't really care what junk people sell under the title 'circuit bent', and i've even been known go so far as to do my best to be polite to s-cat!  ;), but i think people should know what they are buying here. Someone just gave me one of these delay boxes that viscount62 has been selling on ebay on the grounds that, and i quote, 'this piece of shit blew my speakers'. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180732131075

I think viscount62 is the same as papaspank, a member of this forum who appeared to have some kind of mental breakdown on this board a few years back and ended up trying to delete a whole of of threads.

Take a look at these photos of the inside and draw your own conclusions:

You aren't imagining that. The soldering is actually so bad that the person that did it has had to actually glue gun the wires in place. Theres also at least one combination of knob positions that shorts the positive power rail to ground, along with several other possibilities that look seriously dangerous.

Its a shame there isn't some kind of international bending police or this guy would be put away for crimes against soldering!  ::)

God knows what these mods were meant to do, but i can't tell if its working as its actually supposed to.
i am not paid to listen to this drivel, you are a terminal fool

is that a vactrol i see on the board?  yeah pretty desperate selling that, maybe if you swapped it for some other bit of shite that would be acceptable something like a casio vl tone.

That thing with '32' printed on it? I'm not sure why it would be, but it does look like it.

I'm going to have to pull this thing out of the bin and take a look now.

yeah that thing with the 32 on it defo looks like a vactrol and theres a trimmer next to it as well.  I'm presuming this is some cheap karaoke echo unit he's 'broken/modified'?

noiseybeast

I sent an email asking for details about this unit.

"Hi,thanks for the info, theres no real problem though, being isolated to some little oik not possesing the brains to turn down his power amp before he damages his speakers then has nothing better to do but to blame somesone else due to an evident personality disorder. The items that I sell, constructed by myself or otherwise consistently have a positive feedback score that speaks for itself.
Again many thanks for the info, Cheers Roy."

Is anyone else sensing a certain irony in saying someone has ''nothing better to do but to blame someone else'' after having just called them an 'oik' with a 'evident personality disorder' if they mention that a bit of kit they bought in good faith has destroyed their speakers?  ::)

Is everyone else seeing the same  mess in there that i'm seeing? Maybe i've just set my soldering standards too high and  glue-gunning wires onto pots really is the future!

You do enjoy annoying people don't you noiseybeast  ;)

I once hot-glued a heatsink to a 486DX100 chip.  It worked okay, until I turned the case on its side...
If at first you don't succeed, stick it through a fuzzbox.

Not enjoy as much as having a talent for.   I'm also a big fan of making things awkward.
