Hi all,
My 1st post and looking for help.. ::)
I have a Alesis gray HR-16 that is doing soome strange stuff.. 1st I did a reset and all the patch names scroll fine.
there are two problems: Everything else seems fine..
1 - Im missing 7 drum sounds  with the original  eproms installed. But there names list under VOICE.
2-  Many of the sounds like cymbals and snares sound really bad.. example ; a crash Cymbal sounds like hitting an aluminum pie pan.

Most other drum sound are fine but I really have no idea where to start?

Any help would be great!
Best regards to the forum,
Garry

I think i might be looking at tracking down another HR16 and swapping over the big square ASIC chips to see if the problem lies there.
I had one with issue along the same lines and it turned out the ASIC was fried. Unfortunately theres no way back from that, but at least it might eliminate it as a problem if your unit has the same issues even with a known working chip in it.

Either that or someone has messed up the EPROM's somehow. It would take a real effort to do that though. Does it show signs of someone having attempted to solder to them, or have you tried to bend it?
You could just buy another pair from ebay.

Check the power from the regulators is ok.
i am not paid to listen to this drivel, you are a terminal fool
