I see on many layout diagrams that when a pot is in use, the middle point is connected to a 'base'. Im just now being able to manage finding two points that bend, now I gotta try to find a third while holding the other two? Ha...
what is the purpose of the base point and how do you go about finding one - I've read nothing in my electronics books, so I was hoping for some help here please

Depends entirely on what whoever did the layout meant really but in my experience if a layout has a 'base' point its just a single point where lots of different bends are connected i.e. on a speak&spell you have a loop base point which is a single solder point which can be connected to loads of other points for different types of loop effects.

On a pot it might possibly mean that you should tie the middle lug to the spare outer connection but i doubt it
i am not paid to listen to this drivel, you are a terminal fool
