One of my favorite noise sounds is a signal bit crush (lower sample rate) then flowed toward a ring mod.  I was pondering building a stand alone unit that could have a Bit crusher circuit linked to a ring mod circuit through DIY resources.  I know theres plenty of ring mod DIY's out there but im not to sure about bit crushing, because perhaps its only a digital process.  Any one out there have any good resources i could check out or some ideas for me?

woah cool, thanks for the link, pretty slick
i think integrating one of those sample reduction circuits with a ring mod would be totally fat noise pedal, great project idea for down the road.
Any idea where i could get some cheap PCBs made, i've read up on making some at home but dont have access to the chemicals needed.

The GetLoFi project uses a fairly difficult-to-get chip.  You could make just as good a sample-and-hold with a 4066 analogue switch.  Have a look for various old analogue synth circuits.
If at first you don't succeed, stick it through a fuzzbox.
