Yamaha Pss-11 ~ Can anyone help with a power problem?

Hi there everyone!

I have been recently using an old Yamaha PSS-11 in a project which hasn't involved any bending but a lot of modding.

I have just taken out the power jack for space (as the mount is tight and it will be only battery powered) and it doesn't make a noise any more. Can anyone let me know what can be done to bypass that power jack to make it run only on battery power?

If more details are required then let me know.
Much appreciated.

Its probably a switched power jack. Essentially this means that of the three power jack solder connections, two of them will be connected together when there isn't a jack in the socket, this  completes the battery circuit. When you plug a jack into the socket it breaks these contacts to automatically disconnect the battery circuit, so you don't end you plugging an external 9v into the batteries, which might result in some rather explosive or leaky batteries.

Off the top of my head i think its the front (closest to the input) and side connections that are switched. Just wire these solder points together on the board and it should work.
i am not paid to listen to this drivel, you are a terminal fool

Thanks. I checked the jack and it was exactly like you said.

I'm up and running again. Now I just have to mount the thing...

If you take the jack back out and poke around with some probes, I'm almost certain you'll find two points that you can wire together to make the keyboard work.  I took out the power jack in an SK-1 once and had a similar situation.  It's a real easy fix, if you still want the extra space.

Hey thanks everyone.

There will be pics/video up this weekend ~ I'm sure I won't be able to help posting a link (so proud of what I built)
