hey all,
having an uber-wierd output problem - been circuit bending these latey (they are GREAT):

Only problem is that after wiring them up - the bends and sounds sound fantastic thru the speaker... but thru the jack i get VERY quiet output, even after wiring up a switch to switch off speaker and route the + speaker right to the jack it then outputs loud but with a terrible hum running thru the sound destroying it...

is it something to do with it not being grounded properly? :)
its odd coz not come across this problem before

the only way i could find to solve it was to link the output back to the battery compartment but that destroys the volt drain... doh

it sounds SO cool thru the speaker too! :)

yea, the sound out put on bent toys can always get tricky.  I've tried wiring in various resisters to the speaker wires just to see what happens and have gotten some positive results.
Have you considered just mic'n your toy?

oh also, if theres any light up leds in your toy, try cutting the wires to the lights, that often solves terrible click/pop problems

curious, how'd you mount the piezo mic?

right over the original speaker - catches the vibrations from the case above the speaker nicely ;)

I get really nice results with a Suction-cup Telephone Induction Microphone positioned right behind the speaker.
I think they can be found at Radio Shack in the States.
