PSS 480, powers up everything seems fine but no sound?

Hi, I have one of these but I can't seem to get it to make any sound, all the buttons seem to respond with the display, the internal speakers don't work and the audio out doesn't work. Any help? I've taken a look inside and can't find anything wrong with it other than the adapter plug needs to be replaced, I've been trying to get it going with batteries. The 1/4 inch out seems to be soldered in alright, that is the extent of what I can do without help. Man I'm drooling, it powers on and everything I just can't get sound it's killing me! Any help please?

When you turn the volume all the way up without playing anything, can you hear a hiss or any other background noise? Maybe try some drum tracks or the demo song if it has one.

Hi I figured it out, the volume knob was broken, from now on I was always test this on broken boards.
