Ok, it seems like getlofi isn't hosting any competition. So why don't we just have our own right here on the board ?

Rules could be as the ones getlofi had, or it could just be within a timeframe.
Prices ? What prices ! Unless someone would like to sponsor something to the winner.
Maybe circuitbenders.co.uk could contact getlofi.com to host a competition togheter !

Ayways, vote !

LoFi-Ninja

C'MON why is nobody voting ? 20 people have read this thread and only one other than me has voted..

Circuitbenders

If someone can think up a decent idea for a competition then i'm all for it. In fact there was a thread on here a while back where i was asking for competition ideas but the best ones anyone came up with were competitive commodore Amiga hurling and doing cover versions of Britney Spears songs using circuitbent kit.

I'm not entirely sure what we could do about a prize but i'm sure we can come up with something,
i am not paid to listen to this drivel, you are a terminal fool

Dylan

I'd be interested. It'll give me an excuse to go buy crap to bend.

Well I think the getlofi method was pretty cool.. 1 day for everything !

But of course it would be cooler to come up with our own concept.. But what are the possebilities ?

Pricez would be really cool.. Would also motivate people, and more would join ! Also, it's good publicity for circuitbenders :-D

Let's hypothetically say we go with a cover version of something.. Should it be performed live (I think so), is computer allowed, what about MIDI or samplers..

the_zombiest

Cover versions of songs would be pretty cool.
How would the judgement play out?
Would there be a Cowellesque fascist entity or would it be via people power?

The 'buy n' bend' approach is a good one.
the winner could get all of the losers bent toys :)

Dylan

I'd really be into it if it was a "buy and bend" thing. But I know that was done, so yeah whatev whatev.

How about any equipment with points awarded for geekyness (nothing for doing it in Reason, several million for doing it in your period-accurate replica of the Putney studio), and any Kraftwerk track?
If at first you don't succeed, stick it through a fuzzbox.

bent sam

yer why not it allows for a good range of stuff

points for geekiness aye? cant wait for my midi commodore 64 cartridge to arrive then
Yer well.............

Circuitbenders

Surely it'd be more entertaining to do covers of something completely unrelated to electronic music? There'd be a lot more directions to come at it from so people would have to be more original and we'd end up with a lot more variety.

Personally i suspect i could do without listening to a hundred very similar sounding circuitbent versions of the same kraftwerk tracks. Britney Spears sounds like more of a laugh to me.

Or nominate the over-hyped pop phenomena of your choice.....................

i suppose like a circuit bent version of slayer or something could be amusing. im up for whatever.

we could make a free downloadable album out of the entries
Yer well.............

LoFi-Ninja

Or what about "Barbie girl" by Aqua ? That would be pretty funny..

bent sam

if we have a theme then we get a variety. i think alot of versions of glitchy barbie girl or womanizer could get boring so dont make the theme tooooo vague
Yer well.............
