Here's a late Christmas present for all of you hungry benders out there.  A nice LITTLE list of wholesale musical toy suppliers from China!  You will find an absolute cornucopia of unbent chinese loveliness just waiting to be ripped open! The only downside is that the suppliers and manufacturers expect you to buy these in bulk, but a lot of them offer samples that you can ask for or pay for.

I can guarantee you that some of these will be going dirt-cheap and there are just so many to choose from!

I've posted an assortment of individual links to each instrument below, along with a thumbnail, but I've also placed a link to the main supply site where all of these manufacturers are linked up, if anyone is interested in researching these toys and keyboards any further... even to the point of importing some themselves!

Disclaimer:  I am in no way associated with any of these companies or affiliated with any of them in any way, shape or form.  I just thought it would be a great thing for others to check out and perhaps we might one day see some of these up here and up on YouTube being glitched to kingdom come!

Enjoy! ;)

And finally, here's another smattering of toy keyboards from one of the largest manufacturers of musical instruments in China, 'Catic Group China Joy Keyboards Co Ltd'.  This is nothing compared to what is available online!

Remember... this is only a SMALL sample of what is available from China.  I hope this site will help to lead many of us in the right direction in search of very affordable, bendable toys.

yum, plastic sinewaves

A few of the companies offer samples that you can purchase from them.  I'm sure, with a little ingenuity and a good dose of motivation, some determined benders here will either order some of their own or track them down to the retail level... perhaps even finding a local toy store or variety store that stock them.

The internet is a big place and sometimes you need to dig more than a dozen Google search-result pages deep to get to all the good stuff!  ;)

or you could just buy one off ebay for next to nothing?

sk-1

I guess that depends on how much you're into this whole circuit-bending scene.

not enough to buy 4000 units of  'Electronic Keyboard Toy with 37 Keys and Dual Voice Feature' i'm not   ::)

s-cat might be able to set up a sweatshop and knock out 4000 bent ones but i don't think i have the dedication  ;)

You know what? I think circuitbenders should BUY these and sell them to the benders that use the site :)
That would be really cool, i have NEVER seen a bending site buy bulks of these and sell them for cheap prices to benders. The only problem is they might take a while to sell, but hey! Advertise this on youtube :)

I know a lot of benders out there have vids on youtube, why not put a link to this site in the info? That will get lots of active new members that could possibly buy those keyboards :)

I can easily see this site growing in a short amount of time. It might get some publicity if people here your offering cheapy chinese wholesale-bought keyboards to the members. I wonder what other people think?

Edit:

Heck, why not even add large quantities of them to ebay? Yet again, a huge publicity booster :D

voodoolikeudoo

But isn't every one of these keyboards already available to the members of this site from companies that can buy them in much larger quantities and sell them a lot cheaper than anyone on here could? Just having a quick look on amazon shows a lot of them for about £15 and they're probably even cheaper on ebay.   :-\

Does anyone know why a lot of those links have minimum orders measured in square inches  or square feet ???

Usually it's for retailers and distributors who wish to sell these toys in other countries and you have to understand that companies like these sell millions of units every year... even tens of millions.  A lot of these keyboards and toys won't be found on eBay, unless there are some PowerSellers out there who happen to be drop shipping this stuff.  Myself and a couple of others have never seen these brands individually online, (except perhaps for the odd one or two here and there).  I think knowing of the existence of these toys will help to expand circuit-bending beyond just your usual Casios, Yamahas, Kawasakis, Texas Instruments, etc.

I mean look at the Hing Hon EK-001.  That was sold at this same website from some asian company back in 1999... and now look at how popular that thing is!

But you're missing the whole point of this post.  I'm sharing this to encourage people to go hunting for this stuff at a retail level... and knowing that these things exist will help people to search out new toys and new challenges.  Perhaps a more enterprising circuit bender out there actually WILL order a big bunch of individual samples and bend them... then order quantities of the toys with the best bends to pump out and sell online.

It would be interesting to get an official opinion about this.  And it must be an opinion that clearly demonstrates some careful consideration and informed decision-making.  I personally doubt that this site has the dedication or even the money to implement such an ambitious plan, considering it is simply a forum set up for the free exchange of information and knowledge.  But all the same, it would be interesting to hear the official view on this idea :)

I think it's do-able.

i requested a quote for 20 units of a particular keyboard from one of these sites about 2 months ago. so far no reply. i dont really care about the circuits inside, just the enclosures themselves. too bad. i guess i'll just have to work with what ive got.

SebbeK

It would be possible to request some of these keyboards to dealextreme.com, they almost rely entierly on customer requests. But which one seems best to bend?

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the cheap ones had more or less the same chipset just with different features enabled or disabled. Just look for te one with the most features and you've probably got them all.
i am not paid to listen to this drivel, you are a terminal fool
