You might have noticed that the forum has been running a bit cripplingly slow recently but has perked up a bit today. I have to admit that this has been entirely my fault  :-[

Yesterday i was trying to work out what was taking up a mystery 900mb or so on the circuitbenders server and come across a mysterious and massive log file. On closer inspection it turned out to the be error log file for this forum that i have never cleaned out ever since the forum first started. Unbelievably it was 130,465 pages log with 15 error messages per page! Thats around 1,956,975 error messages logged taking up 915MB of space!  :o

I've just deleted it and things are a bit more nippy now. Whoops!  :-[

things are loading much faster !! wow. its very noticable  . i feel like i'm flying from page to page instead of going trhough the city traffic.  :)
if its not broken , brake it

It's definitely a lot quicker.  I take it you cured whatever was throwing all the errors?
If at first you don't succeed, stick it through a fuzzbox.

I think it was mainly from spammers trying to register or sign in over and over again from banned IP addresses. Last time i looked there was one IP that has been trying to register for an account every 2 hours or so for the last 4 or 5 years!

its 77.88.29.248 which appears to be somewhere in Russia on the 'Yandex enterprise network'. I've tried contacting them about it but with no luck.

IP's around 94.24.208.XXXX seem rather keen as well. Another one in Russia.

Hmmm...... A lot of the recent error log has been generated by someone repeatedly trying to hack into the accounts of vincebergshane28, selfpreservation, Nixot, the_zombiest and electoyd. Since yesterday theres been eight pages of 'Password Incorrect' error messages generated from several IP's attempting to log in to those accounts. All the IP's seem to be in Russia somewhere.

I don't know whats so special about those accounts that anyone should go to so much effort but its nice to know that somebody out there cares.  ;)

you've got me intrigued what dark secrets am i holding, maybe scat has moved to russia...............cant imagine they would gain much from my account, maybe the ramblings of a semi-mad man.

Not me? :-/  Dammit, I'm not interesting...

You know you've really made something of your life when russians are trying to hack your account on a circuitbending forum. Until thats happened you're nobody in this world  ;)
