Here's the final outcome with my first tr505.  I did the Burnkit2600 volume mods and a handful of others.  I finished this a couple of months back and have been meaning to post a picture since.  It sounds about like you'd expect.

Looks ridiculous, but in a good way   :o ;D

I take it you cut the edge off the box to mount it at that angle rather than cutting a hole in the front of the 505?

Yeah.  I cut a corner off the box with a dremel and made just a huge ammount of toxic fumes, which was a big hit with my lady-friend.  These days I have a studio outside the house, which works out much better for everyone.

wow, looks really good!

I love the 505. . . I got given one 10 years ago, which once belonged to Vince Clark (aka Erasure)! I sold it to another drum machine collector a few years ago, before I'd heard of circuit bending and I've regretted it ever since.................

I love the timbale on the 505, the congas are also really crispy. . Tell me, what can you do with these particular sounds on the 505?

These tr-505's are still selling nice and cheap, I might invest in one when I got a bit more cash.........:-)

I just got a 626 off ebay, 'buy it now' at £32. the same guy was selling a 505 with a 'buy it now' of £45

Now call me Mr Picky if you want, but theres something not quite right there. In that the 626 is exactly the same machine as the 505 but with more sounds,  proper outputs built in, a trig out and a load of other bits and bobs.

Circuit bending is completely distorting the market for old drum machines.  :-\

Speaking of damn silly money people are prepared to pay for a 505, i've currently got one on ebay that has been bidded up t0 £160. ebay

Either the world has gone nuts or I've actually suceeded in making a really nice modded 505. It's just the burntkit volume mods and a patchbay, nothing too amazing modification wise.
